Anantara Concorso Roma 2026
The inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma was held in Rome April 16 to 19, the city’s first concours of this scale in more than sixty years. Organized by Anantara Hotels and Resorts and presented by UBS, the weekend gathered 70 exceptional automobiles, hosted at the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi and shown at Casina Valadier in Villa Borghese. Sixteen classes represented nearly a century of Italian automotive heritage. Friday’s Giro d’Anantara sent the lineup through Rome to nearby Frascati, and Sunday closed with the awards ceremony under clear skies.
Our founder Paul Russell was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday evening, in recognition of his decades of work preserving Italian motorcar heritage. Paul and the team at Paul Russell and Company extend our thanks to Chief Judge Adolfo Orsi and to the team at Anantara Hotels and Resorts for the honor and for a beautifully realized inaugural event.
Also a highlight of the weekend was the 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Cabriolet by Castagna, which took First in Class in Class II, Le Alfa 8C, and was a finalist for Best of Show. One of eight long-wheelbase Castagna-bodied 8C 2300s built, chassis 2311214 had been off the road since the mid-1950s when it came to our shop. Research undertaken in partnership with Gioacchino Acampora of the Archivio Carrozzeria Castagna and Alfa Romeo historian Simon Moore established that two distinct Castagna styling treatments existed across the small series, which gave us the foundation to return the car to its 1933 configuration. Completed eighteen years ago, the restoration continues to present as intended.
